Follow me to Cinque Terre
photographed by Yik Herr & myself
I guess Cinque Terre needs no further introduction. Everyone would've heard of this pastel haven tucked along the Italian Riviera coastline, made up of five towns, namely Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. Since we're packed for time, we chose two of (what we think are) the most picturesque villages. The UNESCO World Heritage Site has undeniably lived up to its hype. Overlooking the crystal clear sea, the multi-coloured houses built on rocky cliff, together with a harbour lined with fishing boats are a match made in heaven.
Trains running from La Spezia stops at each of the villages. If you wish, you could also hike through the coastline trails that promises a panoramic view or take a ferry instead. We stayed for dinner and sunset before catching the train back to Florence via La Spezia.
